Fitzgerald (John F.) is born in Boston.

February 11, 1863

The son of Irish immigrants Thomas and Rosana (Cox) Fitzgerald, John F. Fitzgerald is born at 30 Ferry Street, grows up at 1 Prince Street, attends the Eliot School, graduates from Boston Latin School, and is forced to withdraw from Harvard Medical School after the death of both parents. He becomes a protégé of then successor to ward boss Matthew Keaney, and marries Mary Hannon in 1889. Fitzgerald serves on the Boston Common Council (1891-92), in the Massachusetts Senate (1893-94), the U.S. House of Representatives (1895-1901), and as mayor of Boston (1895-1901, 1919) and mayor of Boston (1906-07, 1910-14). He subsequently moves to 39 Welles Avenue. Fitzgerald dies in his suite on the third floor of the Hotel Bellevue on October 2, 1950, and is buried in Holyhood Cemetery in Brookline.
